
Allison Brooks Janney (born November 19, 1959)[2] is an American actress. It is well-known for her roles in a wide range of categories on screen and stage in a career that spans three decades. Janney has received various accolades like an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award and a Golden Globe Award, and seven Primetime Emmy Awards, in the midst of nominations to win Two Tony Awards. Her birthplace was in Boston and born in Dayton, Ohio, Janney got a scholarship for studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art following having graduated from Kenyon College. Janney earned credit for a number of small and infrequent television and film appearances throughout the years. Her breakthrough part as C. J. Cregg in the NBC show The West Wing (1999-2006) earned her 4 Primetime Emmy Awards. As a result of her role as Margaret Scully, a Showtime actress on the period show Masters of Sex, Janney received this year's Primetime Emmy Award as Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.
